11 CAPTAINS IS A TITLE GIVEN TO A TRAINING MODULE IN TEAMWORK.

Re-wind to the 2018 FIFA Men's World Cup. Argentina as always were one of the pre-tournament favourite to win the World Cup. Debates keep surrounding Messi's contribution to his national team v club. It wouldn't be fair to put the entire weight on his shoulder to win games and lift the coveted World Cup all by himself. Football is a team sport and accountability lies on ALL i.e. players, support staff & management.

Let's look into what makes up a professional football team that competes at the highest level. A team comprises of around 25 players; include support staff from head coach to analytics, dietitians to physios, add another 15 members. Thus making it a 40 member "TEAM". A lot can still go wrong even after due diligence has been completed by decision-makers.

To consistently deliver a winning performance, every TEAM member is a captain in themselves and needs to be accountable towards achieving the end goal. Yes, superstars will shine and single-handedly carry one's team, as Maradona did in 1986. However, the probability of winning when a team performs collectively is far greater than an individual performing in isolation

CAPTAININYOU.in + TEAM WORK

Let's take 11 CAPTAINS to the workplace. It takes the combined and genuine effort of all staff towards achieving goals set by management. For this discussion let’s consider your special restaurant. The ultimate goal of senior management is Customer Satisfaction. To consistently achieve this, the quality of the food, ambience along with impeccable service needs to be maintained 24 x 7.

Considering the restaurant is open 365 days a year, this is not an easy task and requires coordination within the team i.e. all Staff, from the chef to the manager to the attentive waiters. Equally important is staff in the background that dutifully carries out their tasks. Each one is a captain within themselves and works towards achieving a common goal. In this case Customer Satisfaction.

“THE STRENGTH OF THE TEAM IS EACH INDIVIDUAL MEMBER. THE STRENGTH OF EACH MEMBER IS THE TEAM”
